Very Special Wine - Unique Australian red inspired by France’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape

This wine comes from the Barossa Valley in Southeast Australia, an area known for its Syrah (or Shiraz, as our friends Down Under call it).

It’s made in a style similar to that of France’s beloved Châteauneuf-du-Pape, as the areas where these two wines are grown have many similarities. The vintners at Torbreck saw an opportunity to create a wine like Châteauneuf-du-Pape when they discovered abandoned 100+ year old vines on the property. They nursed the vines back to health and created a blend matching the specs of Châteauneuf-du-Pape with Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre (called Mataro in Australia).

The result is a unique, world class wine. It’s medium-full bodied with a distinct herbal aroma and dense red fruit flavor.

If you like big wines like Caymus you’re in for a treat. Whenever we gift this wine to friends, they are shocked by how delicious it is.
