Juan Gil Jumilla Red Blend
Juan Gil Jumilla Red Blend
Spanish stunner for the American cabernet lover
Randazzo Family matriarch Rhonda was blown away at her first sip of this red blend from Spain. Though she had been tasting wines for Randazzo restaurants for decades, she had never heard of any from Jumilla and Rhonda was in the majority–while Spanish varietals like Rioja and Tempranillo have received praise on the international stage, Jumilla wines have remained largely a secret.
Jumilla is a rugged and arid place that has produced big, bold reds since Roman times. Over the last 100 years, Bordeaux varietals like Cabernet, Merlot, and Syrah have been planted alongside the region’s hallmark grape, Monastrell (known as Mourvèdre in France).
Gil Family Estates has mastered the blend of Monastrell, Cabernet and Syrah varietals in their Jumilla Red Blend. The result is a complex, decadent, and bold wine. If you like rich California cabernets like Prisoner or Taken, you’re likely to fall in love. But take it from Rhonda–she’s never steered us wrong.
How our family enjoys this wine
With red meat and fat cigar. We recommend trying this wine with a wedge salad followed by a balsamic-reduction-drizzled cheeseburger. This is the one we bring to cookouts and dinner parties.
