Bongiovanni Nebbiolo
Bongiovanni Nebbiolo
The Christian Grey of reds–a must-try for the pinot noir drinker
We think Angelo Gaga, one of Italy’s most renowned winemakers, described Nebbiolo best when he said:
"Cabernet has a strong personality, open, easily understood and dominating. If Cabernet were a man, he would do his duty every night in the bedroom, but always in the same way. Nebbiolo, on the other hand, would be the brooding, quiet man in the corner, harder to understand but infinitely more complex.”
Bongiovanni’s Nebbiolo is as complex and nuanced as Christian Gray–its rusty light color gives the impression it will be light and delicate, but what you get is a shockingly bold wine rich with notes of ripe cherry.
This wine is produced in the Northern Italian region of Langhe, an area with a climate similar to that of Oregon and Washington in the U.S.
The Bongiovanni family has kept these vineyards in constant production for three generations. Their efforts show, as this wine is an absolute stunner for $23.
